Clearing vegetation on your block.

State Government and local council regulate vegetation removal on private land. We recommend visiting your local council website or contacting council to obtain up to date information and guidance with clearing vegetation on your property.

It is important to remember that these regulations are put in place to help protect our local environmental values and the ecosystem services that underpin our community.

Queensland Vegetation Management Framework

The Queensland Government Vegetation Management Framework is supported by a number of maps which show vegetation categories and the boundaries of these categories on your property. These maps will help you identify what areas you can and can’t clear under state law.

A Vegetation Management report can be requested for your property. This a free service through the Queensland Government website.

The report includes:

  • Regulated vegetation management maps providing information on the different vegetation categories of regulation.
  • Vegetation management supporting maps providing information on regional ecosystems, wetlands, watercourses, and essential habitat and factors.
  • Protected plants flora survey trigger map
  • Koala habitat areas and koala priority areas map.

This report is to be used in conjunction with Council vegetation clearing regulations.
